3D Printing Energetic Materials
3D Dynamics first research project includes understanding the thermodynamic stability of 3D printed energetic materials. A solid fuel grain is being developed for solid and hybrid rocket propulsion systems. Two formulations are being employed, an ammonium perchlorate composite propellant (APCP) and an environmentally friendly boron potassium nitrate propellant. Both fuel grain structures are 3D printed using 3D Dynamics paste extrusion printing technique. This method will not only apply to solid rocket fuel, but any energetic material with similar the viscosities.
